Terms of Service
Last updated: September 20, 2026. Please read these terms before using Speak & Fix.
These terms govern your use of Speak & Fix (the "Service"), an independent, individually-run English-practice website at english-practice.site. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Speak & Fix only for its intended purpose: practicing English conversation and writing. You agree not to:
- use the Service to generate or share unlawful, abusive, or harmful content;
- attempt to access another user's account, data, or API key;
- probe, scan, or attempt to bypass the Service's authentication, rate limiting, or security controls;
- use automated tools to create large numbers of accounts or to overload the Service.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your username and PIN/password confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account. A username can only be registered once; if you forget your PIN, there is currently no self-service password reset, so keep it somewhere safe.
Bring-your-own-key (BYOK) and third-party AI providers
Speak & Fix does not provide its own AI service. You must supply your own API key from a supported third-party AI provider (or a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint) to use the chat features. By doing so, you agree that:
- you are responsible for obtaining that key lawfully and for any usage costs your provider charges you directly;
- your use of that provider is governed by that provider's own terms of service and privacy policy, which Speak & Fix does not control;
- Speak & Fix encrypts your key at rest but cannot guarantee the security, uptime, availability, or output quality of any third-party AI provider.
Intellectual property
The Speak & Fix name, design, and code are the property of its operator. Content you write or say into the app (your messages) remains yours; you grant Speak & Fix only the limited right to store and display it back to you as part of providing the Service.
No professional or certification claims
Speak & Fix is a practice tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by IELTS, the British Council, IDP, Cambridge Assessment English, or any employer or educational institution, and any feedback it gives is not an official score, credential, or guarantee of any outcome.
Advertising and third-party links
The public pages of Speak & Fix display advertising provided by Google AdSense, as described in the Privacy Policy. Advertisements and any linked third-party sites are provided by others; Speak & Fix does not endorse them and is not responsible for their content or practices. You agree not to click ads for any purpose other than genuine interest.
Service availability
Speak & Fix is provided on an "as available" basis. Features may change, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances outside the operator's control, including outages of the third-party AI provider you've connected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Speak & Fix and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including any loss of data, or costs, errors, or outages caused by a third-party AI provider you have chosen to connect.
Account termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. Accounts found to be abusing the Service, attempting to compromise its security, or violating the acceptable-use section above may be suspended or deleted. Deleting an account permanently removes its stored data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to the Service or these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time; the "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
