Practice English speaking with a partner who corrects you as you go
Speak & Fix is a free, browser-based practice space: have a real conversation in English with an AI partner, get clear corrections in the moment, and review the mistakes you actually make.
Why speaking practice is hard to get
Most learners spend years reading and listening in English, but far less time actually producing it. Classes are scheduled, tutors cost money, and speaking with a friend can feel embarrassing when you know you will make mistakes. The result is a familiar gap: you understand a lot more English than you can comfortably say.
Speak & Fix is built to close that gap. It gives you an AI conversation partner that is available whenever you have a few spare minutes, never gets tired of repeating a correction, and never judges. You can type your answers or speak them aloud with your device's microphone, and talk about anything from your day to your job to your opinions.
How it works
- Start a conversation. Open the app and just begin talking or typing, the way you would with a friend. There is no script to follow.
- Get corrections as you go. When a sentence contains a grammar slip, an unnatural word choice, or an awkward phrase, your partner points it out and shows a better version, without stopping the conversation.
- Review your own mistakes. Corrections can be saved as flashcards that pair what you said with the improved version, so your review set is built from your real errors, not a generic word list.
What a correction looks like
You: Yesterday I go to the market and buy some vegetable for my family.
Partner: That sounds like a nice errand! A small fix: since it happened yesterday, use the past tense, and “vegetables” needs the plural here. You could say: “Yesterday I went to the market and bought some vegetables for my family.” What did you cook with them?
Notice that the partner explains the fix briefly and then keeps the conversation moving. That balance, correcting without lecturing, is the point of the tool.
Two teaching styles
People learn differently, so you can choose how much correction you want:
- Strict Mam corrects every mistake as it happens and asks you to repeat the corrected sentence. It suits accuracy-focused practice, exam preparation, and learners who want to lock in correct forms.
- Good Mam keeps the exchange relaxed and two-way, mentioning mistakes lightly so the conversation feels like a normal chat. It suits building confidence and fluency.
You can switch between them at any time in Settings, and you can optionally show an Urdu translation under each reply if that helps you follow along.
Who it is for
- Students who read and write English for coursework but rarely speak it
- Job seekers preparing for interviews in English
- IELTS and other exam candidates who want extra speaking practice
- Adults returning to English after a long break
- Anyone who wants a private, low-pressure place to make mistakes

Frequently asked questions
Is Speak & Fix free to use?
The site and the guides are free. The chat feature works on a “bring your own key” basis: you connect an API key from a supported AI provider in Settings, and any usage charges are billed by that provider directly to you. Many providers offer a free tier that is enough for regular practice.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Speak & Fix runs in a modern web browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. On most phones you can also add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.
Can I practice speaking out loud?
Yes. If your browser supports voice input and you allow microphone access, you can speak your answers instead of typing them. Typing works everywhere.
What happens to my conversations?
Your chats and flashcards are stored against your account so you can continue on any device, and they are not visible to other users. Your API key is encrypted before it is stored. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is kept and how to delete it.
Is this an official IELTS or exam tool?
No. Speak & Fix is an independent practice tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by IELTS, the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge Assessment English, and its feedback is not an official score. You can read more on the About page.
